Abstract :
The causes of anomalous large WC grains in micrograined WC-Co alloys during liquid phase sintering were studied in two aspects: (1) coarse WC particles in raw materials and (2) decomposition of η phase by carburizing during sintering. In addition the growth behaviour, morphology, composition and lattice parameter of η phase were also investigated.
