Abstract
The creep properties of oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) steels, DT and DY alloys, were investigated in the temperature range 500–700°C. The evaluation of the creep threshold stress was performed by creep dip tests. The Nortonʹs creep law, corrected with this experimental threshold stress, gives a good description of the creep behaviour of DT and DY alloys. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observations showed the dislocations to be pinned to the small oxide particles based on thermally activated dislocation detachment from oxide particles. The results are discussed in the light of Arztʹs model.
