  • Abstract
The effect of Hf substitution in Ni33Zr67 on electron transport properties has been studied in a series of amorphous Ni33(ZrxHf1 − x)67 melt-spun alloys. Since the structure of these glasses is unchanged under isomorphous substitution of Zr by Hf atoms, any variation in transport properties can be attributed to a change in their electronic structure. Experiments show that the resistivity increases monotonically from 168 to 206 μΩ, cm as the proportion of Hf is increased. Calculations based on the simple Drude model and the difference between the respective pseudopotentials of Zr and Hf atoms give results consistent with the measured resistivities. Finally, the room-temperature coefficient of resistivity was also found to obey the Mooij correlation.
