Stress anomaly in L12 alloys: the ‘extended-locking /unzipping’ model

Stress anomalies of L12 compounds are described under the assumption of a thermally activated exhaustion of screws, balanced by multiplication. The model gives an analytical expression for the temperature dependence of the flow stress, and accounts for the observed small strain rate sensitivity. The possible occurrence of serrated flow is also discussed.
