Abstract :
A model for the formation of quenching residual stresses in thermally sprayed cylindrical coatings and free-standing tubes is presented. At first, stresses developing during the gradual deposition of layers of finite thickness are evaluated and then, stresses arising during continuous deposition are obtained as a limit. Analytical solutions are derived for two special cases, a numerical solution is suggested for the general case. Some special examples and the dependence of surface stresses on different parameters are presented.
