Abstract :
With tensile deformed polycrystalline aluminium as an example, it is demonstrated how detailed characterisation of deformation induced dislocation structures can be used as a tool to deduce the degree of grain interaction as well as the number and identity of the slip systems operating during deformation. The results are discussed in relation to predictions of more traditional polycrystal plasticity models, which are based on compatibility criteria.
