Abstract :
We applied a new environmental dependency on the embedded atom method of Al. This form of environmental dependency was proposed for the screening effects on the tight binding parameters. The calculated grain boundary energies on four typical [1 1 0] tilt boundaries with small Σ values were very close to the experimental values.
