Abstract :
The low cycle fatigue properties of a Ti–6Al–2Cb–1Ta–0.8Mo (Ti-6211) alloy have been studied by testing hourglass specimens, based on ASTM specification 606-92, under cyclic stresses in strain-controlled conditions. Results indicate that strain softening occurs under cyclic loading and that fatigue life can be related to either strain range or stress range. Both low cycle and high cycle fatigue data on Ti-6211 have been reviewed. A complete fatigue curve has been established which predicts fatigue life of the alloy for R=−1 from 100 to 100 million cycles.
