Abstract
The formation process of dislocations during training in a CuZnAlMnNi shape memory alloy was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was found that the dislocations introduced during training originate from the stacking faults in the quenched alloy. When the training was conducted to some extent, all the faults disappear, instead of which the net dislocations occur in martensite plates.
