Abstract :
Development of information and communication technology has attracted the increasing attention of organizations to telework in order to enjoy its wide advantages such as decreased expenses, organizational efficiency, promotion of balance between employees’ professional responsibilities and personal commitments, followed by increased performance of the employees. The present study has been conducted with the aim of examining the relationship between telework and the components affecting performance improvement from the viewpoint of the employees of Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare. This study is applied and descriptive-correlational in terms of purpose and method of conduction respectively. Statistical population of the study included all the teleworking employees of Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare amounting to 630 persons. In order to determine the sample size, simple random sampling was adopted and a sample size of 316 persons was selected. In this study, research-made questionnaire was used in order to collect data; the questionnaire’s reliability has been 0.92 through using Cronbach’s alpha. Collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, variance and standard deviation) as well as inferential statistics (Pearson’s correlation, t-test and Friedman test). The findings indicated that telework has a positive relationship with components affecting performance improvement (organizational commitment, cost saving, motivation, promotion, job satisfaction and concentration), and it has increased employees’ performance through flexibility. The results of the present study showed that the factors of the model are not equivalent to each other and organizational commitment is the most important factor by having the highest mean rank of 4.8 and promotion is the least important factor by having the mean rank of 2.55 in telework.
