Abstract
The elongation related to reversible martenistic transformation of the Cu-based ribbons in state as-spun and after annealing at 1173 K for 1200 s were studied. For the most favored diffraction peaks incomplete pole figures were registered. Qualitative analysis of the texture components revealed that fiber 〈1 0 0〉 orientation and two sheet component orientations (1 0 0)〈1 0 1〉 and (1 0 0)〈0 1 1〉 were present. Thermal cycling of the martensitic transformation under constant load of 30 MPa, which was applied along the ribbon, induced two-way shape memory effect, which was measured by change in elongation. Presence of the texture facilitates TWSM effect induction. After three cycles of the reversible transformation under constant load (30 MPa) the ribbons exhibit a closed hysteresis of the elongation when unload. Annealing of the as-quenched ribbons cause recrystallization related to the increase of texture intensity and the elongation during transformation when compared to as-quenched state.
