Abstract
The superelastic stress–strain loops indicating complex temperature–time evolution of the single crystalline ferromagnetic shape memory Ni49.4Mn27.7Ga22.9 alloy which undergoes the austenite–martensite transformation (MT) have been experimentally studied. A model of transformation behaviour based on the statistical description of martensite nucleation events is developed and used for the theoretical description and analysis of experimental data in compression tests.
