Abstract
XRD results showed that all TiCrX (X = 1.6–2.2) binary alloys had C14 Laves phase composition. Among them TiCr1.8 had the highest maximum and reversible hydrogen sorption capacity. Upon the partial substitution of Mn for Cr in TiCr1.8, the C14 Laves phase remained. After Mo partial substitution for Cr, C15 Laves phase and a minor amount of α-Ti phase coexisted in the alloy. Only body centered cubic phase existed in the alloy with the substitution of V for Cr. Substitution of M (M = Mn, Mo, V) for Cr increased the alloys maximum hydrogen sorption capacity. The substitution of V for Cr made the hydrogen sorption capacity increase drastically.
