Abstract :
By XPS analysis, it has been shown that the nature of the defect structures in PPV depends on the pathway conversion of the sulphonium precursor. The ion bombardment of the sulphonium precursor leads to a PPV containing no trace of sulfur and chlorine in the structure. By contrast to the PPV obtained by pyrolysis of the precursor, the PPV obtained from the treatment of the precursor with H2SO4 or with H2SO4/SO3 contains no chlorine but sulfur residue.
