Abstract :
The oligo (1,3-dithiole-2,4,5-trithione), undergoes an easy [4+2] cycloaddition on treatment with diethoxybut-2-ynal. After formolysis, the corresponding dialdehyde 2 affords the analogues of TTF 3 on twofold Wittig reaction with the Akibaʹs P-reagents X bearing the 1,3-dithiole-2-ylidene moiety. The π-donor ability of compounds 3a-c is studied by cyclic voltammetry.
