Abstract :
A new light emitting polymer with pendant anthracene based units attached to a polystyrene backbone has been obtained, namely poly(styrene-co-anthracenyl-9-methoxystyrene). It was synthesized through a Williamson condensation of poly(styrene-co-acetoxystyrene) and 9-chloromethylanthracene. The copolymer contained one chromophore for each two styrene units, and showed an emission spectral maximum entered at 590 nm.
