Abstract :
The characteristics of an actuator using conducting polymer gel have been studied. The bimorph consisting of poly(3-alkylthiophene) gel and polypyrrole is provided and driven by electrochemical doping. The bend of the bimorph can be controlled by the doping potential and therefore the dopant concentration. Anomalous behaviour in the response is observed at the high doping level. The origin of this unique behaviour has been discussed by taking the role of the dopant and the inter-chain didtance of the gel into consideration.
