Dielectric function of polyacetylene

The dielectric function of polyacetylene is approximately calculated taking into account both effects of lattice fluctuations and local-field corrections. The strength of the lattice fluctuations is estimated from the main phonon branches including their dispersion. The results for the dielectric function and absorption coefficient are compared with experimental data.
