Abstract :
Rb3C60 single crystals (Tc = 30.5 K) are investigated in the superconducting state by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) at 2.8 K. Electron tunneling spectroscopy (ETS) reveals a spatial variation of the superconducting energy gap Δ. This behaviour is attributed to varying stoichiometry on a scale of 50 nm. An investigation of a C60 facet shows that I(V) characteristics acquired between fullerene molecules exhibit additional gap states in contrast to those measured above molecules.
