Abstract :
Doped poly(1-alkyl 2,5-pyrrolylenes) (alkyl= hexyl and dodecyl) are synthesized by oxidative coupling of the corresponding N-alkyl pyrroles in nitromethane using excess FeCl3 as the oxidant. The electrical conductivities of the doped polymers let al,in the range. 10−5 to 10−6 S/cm. The doped polymers are stable in air. Rationalizations are presented for conductivity in relation to polymer structure.
