Abstract :
The structure of polymethylphenylsilane (PMPS) was modified by chloromethylation and then condensation with sodium salt of Disperse Red-1 (DR-1). The product (PMPS-DR1) shows a broad absorption in the wavelength of 400–700nm, and exhibits glass transition at ca. 155°C. Photoconductivity of a 2μm thick film made of PMPS-DR1 was measured to be in the range of 10−18 ~10−11 Scm−1, and electric field dependent. After electrical poling, the film shows electro-optical effect with r33 = O. 8pm/V.
