We have studied the relationship between polymer structure, photoluminescence efficiency (PLeff) and electroluminescence efficiency (ELe) of light emitting diodes and light emitting electrochemical cells. An alkyl substituted PPV polymer with a PLeff of 62% from films and with an ELeff of 3%, has been prepared
