Abstract :
The irreversible capacity loss that occurs during the first cycle in lithium ion rechargeable batteries was studied. The experimental results showed that binder was a major influential factor for forming the irreversible capacity loss using disordered carbon as an anode material. Decomposition reactions of the binder during the first cycle were confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). A better binder was suggested for disordered carbon as an anode material.
