Abstract :
4,4′-Dithienyl-4″-bromotriphenylamine or 4,4′,4″-trithienyltriphenylamine was oxidized on indium—tin oxide (ITO) electrodes providing linear and starburst oligomers by thiophene coupling reactions. These oligomer layers were coated with aluminum and the resulting sandwiches were used as light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The photoemission and electroemission were near 500 nm, with a luminance of about 35 cd m−2 at 8 V and 100 mA cm−2.
