Abstract :
Two dopants with condensed aromatic rings were examined. Hexabenzobenzene (coronene) and tri-peri-naphthylenebenzene (decacyclene) were respectively doped into blue organic electroluminescent (EL) cells. The coronene-doped cell exhibited a blue-green emission of 5300 cd/m2 at 17 V. The decacyclene-doped cell exhibited a green emission of 12 300 cd/m2 at 19 V. Lifetime of the decacyclene-doped cell was greatly improved.
