Abstract
We have investigated the temperature dependent optical absorption, photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) properties of a highly soluble and hydrogen-bond forming polythiophene with a urethane side chain, poly[2-(3-thienyl)ethanol n-butoxy carbonylmethylurethane] (PURET). We have found that PURET shows the thermochromism and the temperature dependence in EL and PL spectra. Within a limited temperature range, the EL and PL intensities increase with increasing temperature and this is attributed to the thermally induced deformation of the ordered portion in polymer chain.
