Abstract :
The linkage of a meso-tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) derivative to an co-bromoalkyl substituted bithiophene by ether formation leads to new porphyrin-functionalized bithiophenes. After metalation of the porphyrin moiety these compounds are polymerized by electrooxidation to the corresponding metalloporphyrin-functionalized poly(bithiophenes). Electrochemical and optical characterization of the polymer films reveal the superimposition of the redox and (electro)optical properties of each active unit.
