Nonlinear optical anisotropy in poly[3-(6-tetrahydropyraniloxyhexyl)]-2,5-thienylene Langmuir Blodgett Films

The nonlinear optical response of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of poly[3-(6-tetrahydropyraniloxyhexyl)]-2,5 thienylene are investigated using degenerate four wave mixing techniques. A large third order nonlinear coefficient, χ(3) ~10−8 esu with subpicosecond response was observed. The large value of χ(3) is attributed to the longer conjugation length and larger packing density of the LB films.
