Abstract
We have studied the kinetics of the high temperature doping (250–600 °C) of polyparaphenylene (PPP) with halogens and alkali metals. The dependence of the conductivity and dopant content in PPP on time of doping at different temperatures was investigated. On the basis of the experimental results the values of the diffusion coefficients and activation energies of halogens diffusion into PPP were calculated. Interestingly, the activation energies of halogens diffusion obtained from the dopant content data were similar to those obtained using the conductivity measurements. On the basis of the results of the diffusion parameters calculation was found some correlation between the charge-transport mechanism and diffusion of the dopants in polyparaphenylene.
