Abstract
Sulfonated polyaniline (SPAN) was synthesized by the copolymerization of aniline and 3-aminobenzenesulfonic acid (MA) using ammonium persulfate as an oxidant. The incorporation of MA into the copolymer backbone was confirmed by IR, 13C NMR spectroscopy, ICP-AES and elemental analysis. By adding 10% triethylamine to 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinon (NMP), the solubility of emeraldine salts of sulfonated polyaniline as well as polyaniline increased up to 50-times. The molar mass distributions were determined by gel permeation chromatography in eluent NMP with 0,5% of triethylamine and 0,5% LiCl. Conductivity was measured by impedance spectroscopy.
