Abstract :
Optical absorption spectra, photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) in poly(disilanyleneoligophenylene)s (PDSiOP) and poly(disilanyleneoligothienylene)s (PDSiOT) have been found to be dependent on the lengths of oligophenylene and oligothienylene units. Blue and green EL were observed in PDSiOP with terphenyl and quaterphenyl as oligophenylenes. In PDSiOT, the color of EL changes from green to red with increasing length of oligothienylene from three to seven thiophene rings. Their stability is much higher than polysilanylene and increases with increasing length of oligophenylene and oligothienylene. Spectral narrowing of PL in these polymers has also been observed upon intense light excitation.
