Abstract :
Novel polyanilines (PAnOE), containing two or three oxyethylene units in the polymer side chain, were prepared electrochemically. The cyclic voltammogram of PAnOE showed a reversible redox couple around 0.6 V(vs. SCE) and another redox couple at more negative potentials. The latter couple was attributed to the n-type doping and undoping reactions. The molecular weights of PAnOE were high (1,000,000), and the conductivity values were about 1 mS/cm. These unique electrochemical and electrical properties were compared with those of poly-N-alkylanilines.
