TCNQ analogues composed of heterocyclic rings

Thiophene- and bithiophene-TCNQ analogues containing fused pyrazine rings were synthesized. A bithiophene analogue with 1,2,5-thiadiazole rings was also prepared using the reaction of tetracyanoethylene oxide. Their molecular and crystal structures were revealed by X-ray analysis. The thiadiazole derivative has a unique three dimensional structure involving short S···N contacts.
