Synthesis and electrochemical properties of bis(3,4-furyldimethylthio)tetrathiafulvalene and other extended donors with eight membered heterocycles

Bis(3,4-furyldimethylthio)tetrathiafulvalene, bis(but-2-ene-1,4-dithio)tetrathiafulvalene and bis(2,3-dimethylbut-2-ene-1,4dithio) tetrathiafulvalene are synthesized from two seperate routes. Electrochemical properties are compared. It was shown that the nature of the substituent eight membered heterocycle does not affect the redox properties of the donors.
