Abstract :
An imidazolium salt, 1,3-di-hexadecanylimidazolium bromide[(C16)2Im]Br, has been synthesized by reaction of imidazol with hexadecanylbromide. This salt was further reacted with TCNQ and LiTCNQ to form charge transfer complex of [(C16)2Im][TCNQ]3. The charge transfer complex was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, electronic and mass spectrometry. Crystals of [(C16)2Im][TCNQ]3 are triclinic with a = 8.245(3), b = 9.969(4), c = 30.795(9)A°, α = 93.42, β = 94.39, γ = 96.81°, Z = 1 and space group P-1. The infrared spectra show a very strong absorption envelope in the range of 4000 to 1000 cm−1 causing from the electron conduction bang. The electrical conductivity of [(C16)2Im][TCNQ]3 is 6.6 × 10−1 Scm−1 at room temperature with activation energe of 0.10eV which show thermal activated semiconductivity behavior.
