Abstract
Metal bis-mnt (mnt=1,2-dithiolatomaleonitrile) complexes with the ferrocene based cation [FcCH2NMe3][M(mnt)2] (M=Ni, Pt) have been synthesized and characterized. The structure of the Ni and Pt complexes consists of columns of weakly interacting [M(mnt)2]− dimers. Magnetic measurements have shown a strong anti-ferromagnetic (AF) intradimer interaction. At 247K, the Pt-based compound undergoes a phase transition accompanied by substantial increase of AF coupling. The mechanism of this phase transition was discussed.
