Abstract :
Luminescence measurements have been performed on a number synthesised C60 derivatives. Luminescence spectra exhibit large qualitative variations in intensity and peak position with respect to C60. Phenylated C60 shows a particularly large enhancement in luminescence. The enhanced luminescence is suggested to be a result of significant excited state relaxation in phenylated derivatives. The easy preparation of C60(PhH)n, good solubility in various solvents, wide luminescence range and small absorbance at luminescence wavelengths make these material promising for possible optical applications.
