Abstract
The realisation and DC electrical conductivity studies of the new series of highly conducting organic composites simply formed by a direct charge transfer reaction between solid bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF) and AuI or AuBr3 are described. Under appropriate conditions composites of the family (BEDT-TTF)x/(AuI) present metallic properties whereas the group of (BEDT-TTF)y/(AuBr3) shows semiconducting behaviours in spite of relatively high values of their room temperature (RT) electrical conductivity. For comparison, other BEDT-TTF-derived composites obtained by direct solid–solid reaction are mentioned.
