Nanointercalates—novel class of materials with promising properties1

Methods of preparation and properties of nanointercalates and some nanostructured materials are reviewed. Particular attention is paid to inorganic–organic nanointercalates obtained by exfoliation of layered inorganic materials. Mechanical, electrical and optical properties of nanostructured systems especially those involving polymers are discussed in more detail. The review is closed with the authorʹs personal point of view on future aspects of nanoscience.
