Poly[(p-phenylene vinylene)-alt-(2,2′-biphenylene vinylene)]s: new conjugated polymers with high solid state photoluminescence quantum efficiencies

We report a novel polymer based on biphenyl-linked oligo(phenylene vinylene)s. The twisted structure of the biphenyl unit not only decreases the effective conjugation length of the polymer, allowing the luminescence color control, but also limits the inter-chain interactions, enhancing its photoluminescence quantum efficiencies.
