Abstract :
Electronic transitions in poly-benzimidazobenzophenanthroline (BBL) have been modelled by applying ab initio Hartree–Fock techniques to the ground and triplet states of various molecular analogues. We find that the triplet states are strongly localized to a single unit cell, leading to a Frenkel exciton picture of the excited state.
