Abstract
A mathematical model describing the dynamics of food choice by feeding predator is suggested. The model is developed on the basis of the equation proposed by M. Eigen (1971) for the description of natural selection of biological macromolecules. The model is illustrated by classical experiments on selective feeding of fishes. Two types of selectivity dynamics are distinguished: (1) indiscriminate consumption of food in the beginning and eating of a single favorite food item at the end of feeding process; (2) constant spectrum of selectivities from the beginning to the end of feeding process.
