Abstract :
The capacity of a nickel—metal hydride battery, which is approximately twice that of a standard nickel—cadmium battery, mainly relies on the characteristics of the hydrogen-absorbing alloy used for the batteryʹs negative electrode. The major advance in this field over the past year has been the development of higher energy density nickel—metal hydride batteries as a result of improvements in hydrogen-absorbing alloys. The next generation of nickel—metal hydride batteries will require new electrode materials with superior physical and chemical properties.
