Luminescent materials

Advances have been made in our knowledge of luminescence processes in solids under optical, X-ray or γ-ray excitation. Research is stimulated by the need for new materials suitable for displays under development and the various applications of scintillator crystals. An understanding of the mechanisms of the photostimulated luminescence of materials used for digital X-ray imaging has been improved. Research on materials for laser application has mainly focused on tunable materials and up-conversion systems.
