Thin film transistors based on organic conjugated semiconductors

The use of organic semiconductors as active layers in thin films has raised, in recent years, much interest, both for the fundamental understanding of the charge transport processes in organic materials, and for the potential applications of these devices in the new field of flexible electronics. The actual state of the art indicates that the characteristics of organic devices have become compatible with those of amorphous silicon based ones. What have been the major steps achieved in this research, and how far could progress still lead?
