Abstract :
High-temperature magnetization and x-ray measurements on the crystallized samples have been done to study the crystallization process of amorphous Fe5Co50Ni17 − xCrxB16Si12 (x = 0, 5, 10 and 15) alloys between 300 and 1000 K. We find that the crystallization temperature increases by about 7% from 660 K for x = 0 to the highest Cr content of x = 15. The major phase that crystallizes in x = 0 is identified as cubic Co along with other phases like Co2B, Co2Si, and Ni5Si2 which are present in small quantities. In the sample with x = 5 the nature of the phases crystallized is not different from those of x = 0. With further addition of Cr (x = 10), the crystallized phases become richer in Co2Si and Cr2B and depleted in cubic Co. In the sample with x = 15, the final phase consists mostly of paramagnetic Cr3Co5Si and Co2Si.
