Abstract :
TlGaTe2 crystals were grown and purified by successive recrystallizations. A stoichiometric analysis gave maximum deviations of the nominal TlGaTe2- composition of ~5%. An X-ray diffraction study gave the following results for the structure of the obtained crystals: Space group D4h18, lattice parameters a = 8.455A and c = 6.871A. A morphological investigation of the obtained crystals reveals the fiberlike structure of this material.
