Abstract
A new aluminum phenylphosphonate compound with the formula AlH(C6H5PO3)2 · H2O was obtained by refluxing a mixture of aluminum nitrate and excess phenylphosphonic acid in water. The compound was characterized by elemental analysis, thermal gravimetry, X-ray powder diffraction, and 27Al nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It has a pillared layered structure containing only octahedrally coordinated aluminum atoms, with an interlayer Spacing Of ~15 إ.
