Abstract :
Mechanical treatment of CeNi2Si2 with the CeGa2Al2-type structure in the presence of hydrogen (P < 1 atm) and at room temperature initiates hydrogenation of this material. Under our experimental conditions the maximum amount of dissolved hydrogen formally corresponds to stoichiometry of CeNi2Si2H0.46. The hydrogenation is followed by increases of interatomic distances and volume of the CeNi4Si pores.
