Abstract :
Ti-supported nanostructured Pt electrodes were prepared by the electrophoretic deposition of monodispersed Pt nanoparticles synthesized in reverse micelles. The crystal structure of the obtained electrodes was characterized by XRD, and their electrochemical properties were investigated by cyclic voltammetry in 1.0 mol dm−3 NaOH solutions. It was observed that the electrochemical activities of the obtained electrodes were much higher than that of the bulk Pt electrode. With the increase in the heat-treatment temperature, the relative percentage of Pt (100) planes increased and the electrochemical activity was reduced due to sintering. In addition, the nanostructured Pt electrode with unpolished Ti support showed higher electrochemical activity than that with polished Ti support because of less serious sintering.
